Support Walbridge, Johnston for Malone Town Board

To the editor:

I urge you to get out and vote. Early voting starts on the 26th.

I am supporting Paul Walbridge and Jody Johnston for Town Council. When I was on the Town Board, I worked with Paul for six years. I always found Paul to put the community first, and that is what is important to me.

While Paul was on the board, he chaired the micro-enterprise grant committee. This committee evaluated the businesses applying for funds. Paul was fair to all, not being influenced by “important people,” rather he took into consideration what new business would improve the community. I ask for your vote for Paul Walbridge, Town of Malone councilman.

I am also supporting Jody Johnston for Malone Town Board. When I first ran for this seat, I was running in the caucus against Jody. The vote was a tie. We had to vote again. Jody had been one of my homeroom students at Franklin Academy, so he knew me well. At the second vote of the caucus, he turned around to me and showed me his ballot. He voted for me, thus breaking the tie. He told me that he respected my opinions and knew I had so much experience. Thanks to Jody, I won. I was impressed by his integrity and depth of support for our community.

So many who run “just want to be in charge.” Jody is the type of candidate we want in this messed up political scene, showing dedication to his community, integrity to fellow citizens, and cooperation in our government.

Please vote in this election, and I hope you cast a vote for Jody and one for Paul.

Johnston will be an advocate for Malone

To the editor:

This coming November, I am asking you to vote for my brother Jody (Johnston) as your Town Council member.

Just because citizens of your community run for office, doesn’t always mean they have your best interest in mind. If you are looking for someone with confidence who is dependable, transparent and self-motivated, then you should vote for Jody.

Jody feels innately passionate about his political pursuit and deciding to be a great advocate for causes that will affect your town overall. He is eager to help his community that he has grown up in and already has been a major impact on the youth, who look up to him.

Jody will inspire you and will encourage harmony amongst all other members holding positions. He will make you his priority and become a public servant to the citizens of Malone, take thoughtful, incremental approaches to community issues and make good sound decisions that will make a positive impact.

Jody’s commitment to duty is easily noted as he has moved up to the rank of captain in his current position in corrections. This can only be achieved through dedication to the job. Isn’t that what you are looking for in a candidate?

Sometimes it’s difficult in choosing a candidate that has your best interest in mind. Voting should not be painful, it should be a civic duty amongst all who have the power and right to make changes, to make best decisions and voting for candidates that represent the “People.” Voting for Jody Johnston is the right decision and I am asking you to vote for him and be your representative for Malone Town Council.

I am wishing my brother Jody the best of luck.

The only nomination contest was between three candidates for two positions on the Malone Town Board: Paul Walbridge, Jody Johnston and Mike Fournier.
The final count saw Walbridge and Johnston each receive 56 votes, while Fournier received 11 votes.
Johnston is employed by the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, currently holding the rank of captain, and has served in that capacity for 31 years. Growing up in Burke, he recalled playing baseball for Franklin Academy — and how local residents supported him when he was injured. “The people of the town stepped up,” said Johnston. It seemed right to give back, he added. Johnston has volunteered with local youth over the past three decades, but decided to run for Town Council to make an additional impact.
