The only nomination contest was between three candidates for two positions on the Malone Town Board: Paul Walbridge, Jody Johnston and Mike Fournier.
The final count saw Walbridge and Johnston each receive 56 votes, while Fournier received 11 votes.
Johnston is employed by the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, currently holding the rank of captain, and has served in that capacity for 31 years. Growing up in Burke, he recalled playing baseball for Franklin Academy — and how local residents supported him when he was injured. “The people of the town stepped up,” said Johnston. It seemed right to give back, he added. Johnston has volunteered with local youth over the past three decades, but decided to run for Town Council to make an additional impact.
